We're crazy about pozole, the traditional Mexican soup brimming with hominy and tender stewed meat or seafood, served with fresh garnishes such as cabbage, chopped onion, radish and lime. It is hearty, warming, nourishing fare—perfect comfort food for chilly weather. In many regions of Mexico, pozole is served only on Thursdays and is a wonderful excuse to gather friends and family around the table.
We're continuing this tradition at Tournant with Tazon (which means “bowl” in Spanish) on the Third Thursdays of each month. Bowls start at $12 and you can choose from pork rojo, chicken verde or verduras (vegan), plus traditional and not so traditional add-ins to customize your perfect bowl.
This Tazon we're doing something special too. As part of our Cheers to Freedom fundraiser, we'll be donating 13% of drink sales (to represent the 13% of our country that is made up of immigrant populations) to the ACLU, gifting on President's Day. We've got superstar bartender Nathan Gerdes in the house mixing up margaritas, palomas and other killer drinks, so please come drink up for a cause!
