Dine, wine and brine with us at the Oregon Coast.
A seaworthy afternoon at the Oregon Coast celebrating the many riches our winter waters have to offer us. As part of the Winter Waters initiative, Tournant and Shifting Tides NW are joining forces to share an afternoon of learning and feasting on local seafood, seaweed and Dungeness crab at one of the most picturesque venues on the coast - Pier’s End, the Historic US Coastguard Boathouse in Garibaldi, OR.
It has long been a dream of our to host an event at this extraordinary and iconic boathouse, perched over the water in Tillamook Bay at the end of the pier, over 750 feet from shore. We will be donating 5% of proceeds to the Garibaldi Cultural Heritage Initiative, whose mission is to preserve and restore this historic boathouse and we invite you to learn more about the fine work they do.
Tickets include
-A crab cooking and cleaning demonstration and seaweed talk led by coastal biologist and forager Alanna Kieffer of Shifting Tides and Oregon Seaweed. Learn about different crabbing techniques as well as how to identify different crabs species and legal size and sex limits. Alanna will also touch on the seaweed industry and how it relates to Oregon and other coastal areas.
-A seafood and sea vegetable feast prepared by the Tournant Team. Expect an entirely sea-focused meal, with an emphasis on locally harvested items, including sea vegetables, fish such as salmon and albacore tuna, and shellfish such as oysters, mussels, clams, bay shrimp and the mighty Dungeness crab.
-Biodynamic wines from our friends at Cooper Mountain Vineyards, longtime stewards of the land and fellow lovers of the sea.
